To effectively compete in today’s business environment, companies are increasing the number of users— customers, employees, partners and suppliers—that are allowed to access information. As IT is challenged to do more with fewer resources, effectively managing user identities throughout their lifecycle is even more important. IBM® Tivoli® Identity Manager provides a secure, automated and policybased user management solution that helps address these key business issues across both legacy and e-business environments.

User Provisioning:

The Process of Requesting a user account in Active Directory and other applications when a new employee joins CUSTOMER is manual. There is no automated mechanism to be able to create accounts when an employee is hired on certain criteria or rules.

User De-Provisioning:

There are multiple, manual notification methods when a user is to be removed from active directory and other applications leading to duplication and additional administration tasks by system administrators. Employee identity Information is scattered across systems. Temporary Contractors, Consultants and Trainees are only known to the focal points in business areas and hence, when they leave, there is a delay in disabling or deactivating user accounts in applications and in some cases they are not removed at all. There is no automated mechanism to suspend or disable user accounts in applications when a user changes his/her position in CUSTOMER. Currently there is no centralized repository of user privileges i.e., to be able to identify who has access to what applications, hence each application support team needs to check their applications to see if the terminated employee has access to it or not. There is no report that can be generated showing what applications the employee has access to. This is time consuming; there is a lack of automation in the de-provisioning process.

The Proposed Oracle Identity Manager system will overcome the current CUSTOMER’s drawbacks in user provisioning and de provisioning
